Daily News - Probation Officers Pay Below NYPD and Correction Dept
On 12/31/23, the Daily News ran an article stating that “New York City probation officers — a workforce largely made up of women of color — make far less money than cops and correction officers and haven’t had a new contract since 2020, their union president told the Daily News”. The article also discusses how the Police and Correction Depts have a 5 year maximum salary provision. According to the article, President Powell informed the Daily News that “there’s no five-year maximum salary provision for probation officers.” “We’re underappreciated, undervalued and misunderstood,” Powell said. “You can’t live in New York City off that, so the attrition rate is very high.” To read the entire article click here.
Toy and Book Drives 2023
The United Probation Officers Association will be participating in several toys and book drives this holiday season . On December 14 2024 we will be partnering with the Boyer Lodge No.1 to drop toys off to children who are in foster care under the Good Shepherd Services. All donations are welcomed.
Also On Saturday December 17 2023 we will be joining Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson along with other public officials and Macys in Winter Wonderland Family Day Celebration.

Our Fallen Angel - Retired PO Goode
It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our sister Probation Officer Sherri Goode of Staten Island adult services who was a committed and dedicated worker with the Department of Probation and member of the United Probation Officers Association for 22 plus years. Sherri retired in May of 2021.
At this time we do not have any details but once we have them we will share if that be the wish of the family. In the meantime let us lift them and those who knew her up in prayer.She will be missed. Rest in Peace
