At this meeting President Powell unveiled UPOA’s newest benefit, the Financial Counseling Program, but for now it is only available to active members. The Financial Counseling Program is a one (1) year pilot program and depending on the results it may be extended and possibly become available to retirees. Stacey Braun Associates will be providing these services and Gerry McGahran from Stacey Braun presented a powerpoint on services that will be provided. We are excited to announce a new Financial Counseling Benefit for all Members.  Below is information about the program.  We will also have a webinar on April 7th at 4:30pm to introduce this new benefit, please click here to register if you have not done so yet. 

The Financial Counseling Program (FCP) provides you with a personal financial planner to review your finances, to help answer your financial questions and assist you with the development of a financial strategy. There is no out of pocket cost to you-- the program is paid for by the Trust.

DCAS REVISED COMMISSIONER’S DIRECTIVE NO. 2020-1 CONCERNING THE SAFETY PRACTICES OF PERSONNEL DURING THE COVID-19 CRISIS

DCAS issued a revised Commissioner’s Directive No. 2020-1 concerning the safety practices of personnel during the Covid-19 Crisis effective 3/7/22. This directive revises the use and wearing of face coverings in the workplace as a result of the advise by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the New York State Department of Health that people can resume activities without wearing a face covering or being physically distanced, except where otherwise required. Labor Unions File Temporary Restraining Order Against NYC To Stop Termination Of Employees

On 2/10/22, UPOA and other unions filed an Order To Show Cause For A Temporary Restraining Order And Preliminary Injunction in NY Supreme Court in order to stop the termination of certain employees. The Honorable Judge Judy Kim’s Interim Order denied the request for a  temporary restraining order (TRO) and set a return date to appear in Court on March 1, 2022 at 11 a.m.
