UPOA Receives Citation for Toy and Book Drive

On 12/18/21, UPOA partnered with New York State Senator Chantel Jackson, The Boyer Lodge, and the Morrisania Association to put the smiles on so many children and their families face this past holiday season. UPOA also partnered with Queens Adult and Family Services at their gift-wrapping event.

As a result of the successful event, UPOA was presented with the NY State Assembly Citation in recognition for our community engagement and leadership.

The Passing of Retired Probation Officer Dorothy Pritchett

We are sad to announce the passing of our Sister retired Probation Officer Dorothy Pritchett ( née Cooper) November 24 1931 - December 30 2021 . Let’s lift her family up in prayer.

Due to inclement weather predicted for Friday and the need to accommodate participation of Mrs. Pritchett’s Sorority members the date has changed.

PSLF Waiver Offers Way to Get Closer to Loan Forgiveness

On Oct. 6, 2021, the U.S. Department of Education (ED) announced a change to Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program rules for a limited time as a result of the COVID-19 national emergency. Throughout the pandemic, ED has provided a variety of benefits to borrowers.

Now, for a limited period of time, borrowers may receive credit for past periods of repayment that would otherwise not qualify for PSLF. For more information click here.
